Tip: If you decide to go on foot, be prepared to put in a little extra effort. Start from the very center of Rijeka and head towards Fiumara Street (the main promenade along the Rječina River). From there, cross the road towards Tito Square (Titov trg) and the Trsat Steps (Trsatske stube). Keep in mind that the Trsat Steps have 561 stairs, so make sure to bring some water and get ready for the climb.

Difficulty: Hard

Tip: If you’re driving, just follow the signs towards Trsat Castle — it’s to the east and uphill. Keep in mind that Rijeka is a city of hills, and local drivers can sometimes be a bit impatient with visitors, so stay alert on the road. For parking, you can leave your car at the Fortica parking lot, along the Joakim Rakovec promenade, or near the Mladost hall.

No bicycle access.

Tip: You can also take the city bus (Autotrolej) to get to Trsat — lines 2 and 8 will take you there. Just make sure you hop on the one going towards the eastern part of Rijeka. Line 2 runs pretty often, so it’s usually the easiest choice. If you want to check the schedule or routes in advance, you’ll find everything here: Autotrolej routes (dodati link).
