Mađerkin Breg Viewpoint – The King of Međimurje Views

📍 Location: Above the village of Robadje, in the heart of Upper Međimurje, just a few minutes’ drive from Štrigova.

Rising about 341 meters above sea level, Mađerkin Breg offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in continental Croatia — overlooking rolling vineyards, green hills, and even five countries: Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia.

If you’re coming from Čakovec, Varaždin, or northern Croatia, follow the road signs for Štrigova and Robadje. After Sveti Urban, you’ll see signs pointing directly to the viewpoint. Just when you start wondering if you’ve taken a wrong turn, you’ll spot the wooden lookout tower in the distance. Or simply follow the crowd — it’s rarely empty here, especially on weekends.

The road is in good condition, winding through charming Međimurje villages. The last 500 meters are on a gravel road that narrows slightly. From the parking area, a short walking path through vineyards leads you up to the tower — a perfect chance to breathe in the fresh Međimurje air and soak up the local atmosphere. Along the way, you can stop at small stalls selling local wine, honey, and homemade products.

Driving through the hilly vineyards is already an experience in itself, especially on sunny days. Just note — this spot is quite popular, so expect some crowds.

🔭 What You’ll See

View from viewpoint Međerkin breg

From the top of the Mađerkin Breg tower, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Međimurje’s vineyards, forested slopes, and valleys stretching all the way to the horizon. On clear days, you can even see the Alps, and at night, the twinkling lights of nearby towns.

👀 Highlights include:

  • A panorama of five countries – a unique sight in this part of Europe! The glass railings around the tower are marked with names and directions, so you can easily identify what you’re looking at. As the local saying goes, “z njega vidiš na se strane” – “from here, you can see in all directions.”
  • Međimurje’s vineyards and rolling hills, changing colors with the seasons. Wine is a symbol of this region, and you’ll find small tasting huts at the foot of the hill where you can enjoy a glass of local wine.
  • Štrigova, known for its wineries, wine roads, and local products.
  • A cycling rest stop next to the viewpoint, perfect for a quick break with local wine or snacks.

⏰ Best Time to Visit

✨ Why Visit?

Mađerkin Breg is more than just a viewpoint — it’s a symbol of Međimurje, a place where nature, wine, and scenery come together in perfect harmony.

Climb the 27-meter-high tower (104 steps) and you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. The 360° view gives an incredible sense of peace and freedom. Around the area, you’ll find plenty of extras: wine-tasting huts, local food stalls, a souvenir shop, a photo booth, wind chimes, and educational displays.

And if you’d like a little keepsake, you can buy magnets, mugs, T-shirts or tote bags — or simply take home the memories (and maybe save a few euros).
