📍 Location: Above Plomin, eastern Istria, overlooking the Kvarner Bay
Plomin is one of Istria’s oldest settlements, historically known as Phlanona in ancient times and Fianona in later periods. It stands at about 168 meters above the Plomin Bay, built beneath the Plomin hill (Gora), and overlooks both Velika Vrata in the Kvarner, the island of Cres, and Rijeka on one side — and on the other side, views extend toward the Istrian mainland.
If you’re coming from Rijeka, just follow the coastal E65 road south toward Labin. After passing through the Učka Tunnel, continue along the main road until you reach Plomin. The viewpoint is located right above the old town, accessible by walking up from the parking lot near the town entrance.
From Pula or central Istria, take the A9 motorway north, then switch toward Labin and Plomin along the state road D66. Once you arrive in Plomin, follow the signs for the old town — the viewpoint is integrated within the historic town walls.
The best part? You don’t need a long hike. From the parking area, it’s just a few minutes on foot through the cobbled streets of Plomin’s old town to reach the viewpoint terrace.
